Baby Shower Themes: Does A Baby Shower Need a Theme?

When you choose a baby shower theme, what you are essentially doing is adding a bit of personal touch to it as well. There are so many themes that can be used for a baby shower. However, you don’t have to have a theme to pull off a great baby shower for an expectant mother.

If you choose to throw a baby shower without a theme, you may soon see a theme emerging on its own. How is that? Depending on the kinds of gifts people buy, you may notice certain things.

For instance, an expectant mother may love frogs. Her friends know this but there is no theme to the baby shower saying this love. Her friends may buy all kinds of frog decorations, toys and clothing. Hence, the baby shower now has a frog theme.

People know formal dinners require a suit and tie for the men and gorgeous gowns for the women. This is no different for a baby shower. Even if you choose to forgo the theme, the event will still go the way you want it to. As long as you have the essential items for the baby shower, a theme, while nice, is not necessary.

If you decide to go the traditional route, you do have your work cut out for you. You should choose a theme that represents any number of things including a mother’s childhood, a nickname, perhaps a cartoon, etc. There are plenty of theme related ideas that you can go with. You can also choose a theme based on the color of the baby’s room. You aren’t limited so use your imagination.

Whatever you decide, never let the baby shower plans get you down. It can be very stressful putting a baby shower together. Even if you are a hostess, you want to have fun too. You need to have fun while you are planning this event.

When you are out shopping for a themed shower, buy everything you need in one swoop. It can be annoying to go back two or three times when you could have things done right away. After you have this done, this gives you enough time to put the event together. That’s not to say something not on your list won’t creep up. You just don’t want it all the time.

It can be quite simple to let your mind wander when you are putting together a baby shower. Don’t let this happen. Remind yourself that the goal of the party is to have fun and celebrate the expectant birth of a new life with the mother-to-be. You want to give the expectant mother a good time so don’t sweat the little things and remain focused on your goal.

You don’t have to do this all on your own either. If you begin to feel overwhelmed, ask someone to help you out. If they can take on some of the financial burden, that’s good too. If you need help with ideas, you can also look for them using the Internet, books or magazines.
