When you are a hostess and have a baby shower you are planning for a friend or relative, finding games to play can be difficult and a little time consuming. There are so many things to keep in mind when you are in the planning stages.

One of the first questions you should ask yourself is if everyone coming to the shower knows each other. The likely is answer would be no. For that reason, you should never have games that could potentially embarrass anyone. That’s why there are plenty of games to choose from so no one is embarrassed.

If you want to find non-embarrassing games to play, you can’t go wrong with paper games. There are many games that can be done on paper and has little chance to embarrass anybody. As guests show up, hand out sheets of paper. Your guests can do word searches comprising of baby names or even crossword puzzles with the party theme. These are non-embarrassing games that will have everyone laughing but not at each other.

As more people arrive, get them involved as well. When you do, you ensure people who don’t know one another will talk. That means they will relax for the remainder of the baby shower. Once these games are complete and everyone seems to be getting along, you can try other riskier games. What kinds of risky games can you play? A favorite baby shower game is: “Smell The Diaper”.

Smell The Diaper – How do you play “Smell The Diaper”? First, you’re going to have to buy a package of diapers and a mixture of chocolate bars. Take several diapers and put chocolate candies inside. (Melt them a bit before you place it in the diaper.) They should all have a different smell such as Kit Kat bars, Snickers, Almond Joys, Baby Ruth, etc. You’ll want to take out the camera so you can record all the guests’ expressions. Make sure each guest smell the diapers and have them write down which diaper smelled of what. (Be sure you have a number on them so you know what they are as well.) Read off the results and see who won the game.

If this game doesn’t seem to go over well with some of the guests, you can try other games. You can always play something a little less troubling such as Taboo, Pictionary, Poke, etc. When you play, change the rules a tad to fit the baby shower theme. The main thing you are looking for is that everyone is having a good time including the honoree. You will always want to keep backup games handy in case something goes wrong. Games that are too complicated tend to end the fun very easily.

There are many games out there to choose from. Getting a couple of them for your baby shower shouldn’t be too hard or too complicated. Think about the people who are coming to the shower and the kind of games that will work best at the event.
