Memory: How to Play “Mind the Baby” at Baby Showers
There are so many baby games that hostess can set up for baby shower guests. It can be difficult to choose the perfect game to play. However, if you are looking for an easy baby shower game to play, look no further than Mind the Baby. What’s so special about this game? First, you don’t have to spend a lot of time to set it up which gives you more time to spend with the guests and the guest of honor.
How do you play Mind the Baby? First, you are going to need some baby items. They include a:
Bottle;
Pacifer;
Rattle; and
Baby lotion.
If you want to create a unique feel to the game, you can also use stuffed animals or bibs. Any item that fits the baby shower feel/theme will work just fine. The important thing to remember is to have approximately 20 items for your guests to see and memorize. You shouldn’t buy any items that may be difficult to see. Your guests have to see all of them.
Put the items on a tray and cover it with a dark blanket or other similar item. Bring it out to the guests and let them gather into a circle. Afterwards, let them know that a game of memory is about to be played. You want guests to remember your baby shower party and Mind the Baby is a way to go about achieving this goal.
Give each person a piece of paper and some sort of writing utensil. If you have planned games that involve a lot of writing, purchase notepads that include the baby’s name (should the expectant parents already have one picked out). These can work as party favors for your guests too. Remember guests like to bring home gifts themselves from occasions such as these.
Tell the guests that pens must be down before the tray is revealed. Once they are down, guests should be informed that they have only two minutes to memorize everything that is on the tray. You need to be sure everyone is able to see it so the game stays fair. There is to be no writing at this point.
Recover the tray with what you had it covered with initially once time has expired. Each person should begin to write down what they saw on the tray. You can have teams or just individuals. It really doesn’t matter. If you have teams, then be sure each one can’t hear another group’s answers. Groups should go into other groups if there isn’t a lot of space.
Be sure you set a time limit on how long everyone has. Ten minutes is should be enough time to write down their answers. Once everyone is done writing, compare the lists. Whoever got the most correct answers is the winner of the Mind the Baby game. Be sure to reward them with a party favor that is related to the baby shower.
