Three New Baby Shower Games With a Twist
When you are planning a baby shower, you don’t have to stick with the usual baby games that are played at most showers. With a little research through baby books or the Internet, you can come up with many kinds of games. So kick those boring tried and true games and play some new ones such as: Name the Baby, Baby Bingo and the Baby Bottle. How do you play each of these?
Three New Baby Shower Games
Name The Baby – This game can be done in large groups or individually. Taking the soon-to-be parents’ first names, have players come up with baby names using only those first name letters. You can ask them to use all the letters or some of them as long as the come up with names. Don’t place too many rules on this game. By placing too many rules on your players, it hampers their creativity. You can award prizes to names that are funny, cute, worst, etc. If everyone seems to be having a good time, continue the game with middle and last names too. You’ll end up laughing with the names that tend to crop up.
Baby Bottle – This game is a lot like those good ol’ college days when fraternities had drinking contests to see who can drink the most beers and still be standing up. For the baby bottle game, you will pour a liquid of the person’s (or your) choice for them to “suck” down out of the bottle. There are variations on how this game can be played. For instance, you can do the game as a group. The first to finish is the winner. You could time one another and try to beat one another’s times, using a stopwatch. You can also do a “suck” off by pairing up contestants and then do eliminations, which will lead to the final challenge of the two best times. This game isn’t as easy as it sounds. Sucking out of a baby bottle can be difficult.
Baby Bingo – Moms-to-be can often be embarrassed when they are the center of attention, especially when they are opening gifts. Sometimes gifts are doubled or are for the wrong gender. As a hostess, how can you curb this sort of embarrassment? Play baby bingo. How does the game work? Before presents are unwrapped, pass out to each guest square pieces of paper (blue, pink or neutral colors). Have them write on the pieces of paper what they believe is in each gift. Guests should line these up like bingo cards but the squares should represent the number of presents that are to be opened. As presents are revealed, the people that guessed right can mark their paper with an X or any other marker. You can determine the winner in two ways. One way is to reward the person who had a row for bingo. The second way is by rewarding the person who had the most right.
By doing some research before the day of the party, you can be sure your guests will be laughing and having a good time.
